THE EVENT

The presentation will discuss challenges of child rearing and what research has offered to help and that make a practical difference in the home, at school, and in everyday life. Key concepts and techniques will be presented and illustrated to convey how they work and provide guidelines of what to do when they fail. Many familiar concepts and procedures (e.g., praise and punishment) and unfamiliar ones as well (e.g., setting events, use of practice simulations in the home) provide novel what-to-do and how-to-do-it tools that can make parenting more effective and life easier for parents and children.

EVENT LANGUAGE

The language of the event will be English, with simultaneous translation into Chinese.

Alan E. Kazdin
Sterling Professor of Psychology and Child Psychiatry at Yale University
At Yale, Alan E. Kazdin PhD has been Chairman of the Psychology Department and Director of the Child Study Center at the School of Medicine. Currently he is Director of the Yale Parenting Center. His 750+ publications include 49 books that focus on research methodology, interventions for children, parenting and child rearing, and interpersonal violence. His parenting work has been featured on NPR, PBS, BBC, CNN, Good Morning America, 20/20, Dr. Phil, and the Today Show. In 2008, he was President of the American Psychological Association.
