On July 31, the Phoenix Quintet, an emerging chamber ensemble of five outstanding young Chinese female musicians, will present SHAN SHUIโ€”Where Mountains and Waters Meet at Yale Center Beijing. Blending Chinese and international classics in a variety of chamber music arrangements, the performance uses the expressive timbre of Western instruments to interpret the poetic spirit of Chinese music, showcasing the artistry, creativity, and cross-cultural vision of a new generation of performers.


The program features the original work Shan Shui, specially composed by renowned Chinese composers Mingxin Du and Yong Du, alongside beloved pieces including Auld Lang Syne, Amid So Many in This World, and At the Edge of the Sky. Join us for an inspiring evening and embark on a moving musical journey.

    Rooted in original Chinese chamber music, the Phoenix Quintet reimagines the spirit of Chinese musical aesthetics through an international performance language, building a graceful bridge for cross-cultural artistic dialogue.


    The ensemble has received numerous international honors, including the Excellence in Music Award at the Olympic Arts Congress in Paris. It has performed on prestigious stages and major events in China and abroad, including the National Centre for the Performing Arts, the CCTV Mid-Autumn Festival Gala, the Feitian Awards, and the Starlight Awards, while also appearing internationally in cultural exchange performances hosted by the Chinese embassies in the United States and Germany.
