On June 13, Pauline Lin, Senior Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Studies of East Asian Languages and Literatures at Yale University, will discuss her latest research on the construction of an early Chinese "waterpark" in the Pit of Bronze Birds (Pit K0007) from the First Emperor of Qin's Mausoleum at Yale Center Beijing. Through the talk, Lin will introduce the audience to what an early Chinese "garden" might have been like, linking it to some of the characteristics of later Chinese imperial parks we might find from objects in the Palace Museum's ongoing exhibit on Chinese gardens and works from the Beinecke Library at Yale University.

    Pauline Lin is Senior Lecturer in East Asian Languages & Literatures and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at Yale University. She received her BA in Literature, and her MA and PhD in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from Harvard University, specializing in classical Chinese literature and art. Currently, her research focuses on early medieval Chinese literature and art, and she teaches classical Chinese, sinological methods, and a seminar on Chinese parks and gardens.
