Energy transition is one of the most important topics of our age. Faced by the challenge of global climate change, global leaders have declared the time to act is now. This urgency has translated to efforts across the world. On March 21, the Yale School of Management Alumni Association—Beijing Chapter and Yale Center Beijing will host three esteemed guests and experts to exchange ideas on what energy transition means for governments, non-profit organizations, and investment activities.

    Sameer AlZahrani

    CEO and CIO of KAPSARC Investment Management Company

    Sameer AlZahrani is the CEO and CIO of KAPSARC Investment Management Company. KAPSARC is a leading global energy think tank based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, that focuses on energy economics and sustainability. Sameer oversees the Center’s endowment portfolio and its implementation options across asset classes. Prior to this role, Sameer spent a decade at KAUST Investment Management Company in Washington D.C., where he managed multi-billion $US portfolios for the KAUST endowment in the absolute return, special situations, and public markets asset classes. Prior to his role at KAUST, Sameer was an investment director at Cambridge Associates in Boston, where he advised endowments and sovereign wealth funds on strategy allocation, manager selection, and implementation options. Sameer holds an MBA from Stanford University, an MS degree from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and a BSc degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Sameer is a CFA and CAIA Charter holder.

    Vice President at China Impact Investing Network

    Yigu Lin is the Vice President of China Impact Investing Network, which is a membership-based initiative under the China Social Enterprise and Impact Investing Forum (CSEIF). CSEIF is a non-profit organization founded in 2014 by 17 Chinese foundations and venture philanthropic organizations. Yigu is responsible for the driving of effective partnerships and advocacy of impact investing in China based on research. Before joining CSEIF, Yigu worked at a Chinese boutique investment bank as Vice President and a state-run venture capital as investment manager. Prior to that, she worked at The Wall Street Journal for five years as a reporter and researcher. Yigu holds an MBA in Finance from a dual-degree program at Tsinghua University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and double Master’s degrees in International Affairs from Peking University and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

    Bing Yuan is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Rockets Capital, a China-based private equity firm with a focus on venture and growth stage investments in Smart Electric Vehicle industry value chain, clean energy, and frontier technology areas, with XPeng Inc. as its anchor investor. Prior to co-founding Rockets Capital, Mr. Yuan worked at Hony Capital for over 12 years, where he was responsible for all of Hony’s equity investment operations, including private equity, venture capital, Goldstream hedge fund, and Horizon mutual fund, with a total AUM of over US$10 billion. Prior to Hony, he spent over 12 years in investment banking with Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse in both New York and Hong Kong, and assisted numerous prominent Chinese companies in completing their IPO, corporate finance, and M&A transactions. Mr. Yuan holds a Juris Doctorate’s degree from Yale Law School, a Master’s degree in International Relations from Yale University, and a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Nanjing University in China.
