    Former Vice Governor at China Development Bank

    Dr. Gao Jian is a senior economist. Before his retirement in 2012, Dr. Gao had been the Vice Governor of the China Development Bank (CDB) since July 2003. He started his career at the Ministry of Finance, where he held a number of important positions. He was Deputy Director General of the Department of Laws and Regulations in 1989 and Deputy Director General of the Department of State Debt Administration in 1990. He was the Director General of the Department of State Debt Administration in 1994 and the Director General of the Department of Laws and Regulations in 1998. Dr. Gao is the founder of China's government securities market and is recognized as the "godfather of China's debt capital market".

    In addition to his government career, Dr. Gao has been active in the academic arena. He completed his post-doctoral studies at the Department of Economics and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He is also a frequent guest speaker at top universities such as Yale. His areas of research and interest include financial innovation and financing for small and medium enterprises.
