Brendan Walsh has overall responsibility for providing administrative support for the international activities of the schools, programs, and individual faculty across the university. These efforts focus on supporting the development of new projects with partner universities, managing visits to Yale by university delegations and other dignitaries, and safeguarding Yale’s reputation around the world. He also leads the university’s emergency response in the event of a medical emergency, natural disaster, or civil unrest that happens abroad. Brendan serves as the director of the Office of International Affairs and in addition, the offices of International Students and Scholars and Yale Young Global Scholars also report to him.
Previously, Walsh served as director of international affairs in the Provost’s Office at Stanford University, where he founded the Stanford Office of International Affairs and played an instrumental role in launching and managing the Stanford Center at Peking University. Prior to joining Stanford, he served as a senior program officer at the U.S. Department of State. He earned a Ph.D. in international education from New York University.
