Event Details
We invite you to come hear, see and learn about rare violins. Throughout history, rare violins from renowned makers have not declined in value, and have reliable valuation records that in some cases go back hundreds of years. They are works of art on par with paintings by Picasso and Van Gogh, both in market and artistic value - one of the most expensive recorded sales in recent years was a 273-year-old violin by the Cremonese master Bartolomeo Giuseppe Guarneri ‘del Gesu’, known as the “ex-Vieuxtemps,” which sold in excess of 16 Million USD. While significant financial acquisitions, these instruments are also tools that are cherished by artists around the globe for their unique sound, and are regularly heard in the world’s great concert halls.
We will discuss the history of rare and antique string instruments, how to appreciate them as works of art, as tools, and also as reliable financial investments, and much more in this event. There will also be time to enjoy the exquisite sound quality of these fine instruments.
